USELESS
In this series of paper cuts and photographs I look at useful objects that have become useless. Like a pencil being worn down to the nub, I examine objects that share the commonality of having been rendered useless as the aftermath of performing their intended function.
Approached as a papercut, I use an xacto blade to document the lines of stress found lingering in used objects.
In the photographs I look at the beauty of transformation evident on the other side of an inanimate objects life cycle.
Overall, I question the concept of Usefulness; what it means outside the paradigm of "hard-work" as a value and how we view entities that can no longer contribute to that standard.
